With its unique visual style and compelling storytelling, As Dusk Falls is one of Microsoft’s most intriguing exclusives. She showed up a little more in the Tribeca Games Spotlight.
After a difficult hiatus with SEGA, the studio announced Interior Night As Dusk Falls exclusively for Xbox. Quantic Dream veteran Caroline Marchal’s hat game came to repeat presentations at Summer Game Fest 2022.
As Dusk Falls, a narrative game with a pretty aesthetic
The Tribeca Games Spotlight gave pride of place to games with strong narratives and indie titles. As Dusk Falls, the first game from the Quantic Dream Spawn studio, was of course invited to the celebrations. The narrative game follows the story of two families living in a small town in Arizona, whose paths will cross for more than thirty years. On the one hand the Walkers, a loving family and the most ordinary, on the other hand the Holts, who have a hard life. Their fates will cross during a robbery that will go awry.
We’ll take turns playing several characters, including Vince Walker, a fairly good-natured father, and his daughter Zoe, who begins the story at the age of 6 before coming of age. Jay Holt, meanwhile, will bring a more reclusive vision of the family with a complicated past. A title that explores strong themes of sacrifice, resilience, betrayal and legacy.
Narrative play requires that the choices players make, sometimes directly, sometimes more discreetly, affect the scenario and all characters. We’ll probably have to wait for this Sunday night’s Xbox Games Showcase to find out more about the gameplay. In any case, As Dusk Falls immediately catches the eye with its unique visual style that mixes hand-painted characters and 3D environments. The game is scheduled for an unspecified date on PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
