The launch catalog of PlayStation 5 It has no point of comparison with that of PS4 and PS3. The statement comes from Jim Ryan, President and CEO from Sony Interactive Entertainment, who in an interview with GamesIndustry points out that much of the demand that the new console has is due to games with which it is released.
When the console reaches stores the November 12th
The manager ensures that the coincidence in the premiere of all these titles, and those to come, is the result of a plan forged over years: “This is the fruit not of mass compulsive purchases, but of very stable and carefully planned organic growth. We have been working on this for years and years.”
“Very quietly, in a very PlayStation way, we’ve been building something quite special with these studies, “explains Ryan, whose company will debut next year Ratch & Clank: Rift Apart, God of War: Ragnarok, Returnal Y Horizon 2: Forbidden West (the latter also for PS4). “You can do this with frenzied acquisitions, or measured acquisitions, or you can do it organically.”
Ryan believes the growth of PlayStation studios is not valued
For Ryan, the latter is not valued enough: “Probably it is not widely appreciated or understood how far we have grown organically our game development capabilities over the course of this generation. ”
Of course, it recognizes that there is an exception: “Obviously, has helped the acquisition of Insomniac and it’s wonderful to have them as part of the family. “The study, acquired in 2019 and has worked with Sony since the days of the PlayStation 2, develops two of the first titles announced for PS5: Spider-Man: Miles Morales Y Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
