Despite a significantly slower pace due to semiconductor shortages, PS5 sales are going well. The console has finally crossed a new level.

It was only a matter of time, now it’s over. On March 31, 2022, the PS5 reached 19.2 million. A month later, the new generation console has just reached a new symbolic milestone.

20 million PS5 sold

And 20 million for the PS5. Within a month, Sony has managed to sell 700,000 more consoles, despite semiconductor shortages severely impacting sales. An iconic level that the youngest from the Japanese manufacturer reached in 18 months and 22 days versus 15 months and 14 days for the PS4. A small feat in view of the delivery problems, since Sony could not meet the demand. The company is pleased to have reached this symbolic milestone so quickly despite the situation:

S ince the launch of the PS5, our teams have worked tirelessly to deliver a true next-gen gaming console that has conquered the world. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the fans for their support. It’s your passion for the PlayStation brand that drives and inspires us to innovate new technologies, shape the future of gaming and continue to create the best place to play.

An increase in production of the PlayStation 5

However, the pace of sales has slowed in recent months due to shortages. Intel and company are formal: The situation shouldn’t improve any time soon. Sony also expects this to continue in the coming months, forcing it to revise its forecasts downwards. However, the Japanese company is not giving up and promises to significantly accelerate the production of the PS5 this year.

Fans who haven’t gotten their hands on the console should know that we’re expecting a significant increase in PS5 production this year. We’re working hard to make sure the PlayStation 5 is available to everyone who wants one.
