For months now, rumors have been swirling about remasters of multiple PlayStation launch titles. The games mentioned in those rumors weren’t the classics many of us were hoping would get a new lease of life on the PS5, but rather PS4 games that weren’t even old enough to warrant a re-release, let alone a remaster.
Nonetheless, Sony, the company that brought us multiple remasters and re-releases of The Last of Us and The Last of Us Part II, has done the same with its other recent releases, and now it’s Horizon Zero Dawn’s turn.

Tonight’s State of Play showcase unveiled Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, an enhanced version of the PS4 original that came out in 2017 (and only came to PC in 2020), which will soon be available on October 31, 2024.
We were made aware of the remaster’s existence just last week when the game’s ESRB rating surfaced, confusing everyone. Of course, if you’ve been following the news lately, you’ll know that this isn’t the only PS4 remaster in development we’ve learned about this week.
Horizon Zero Dawn is one of PlayStation’s most successful new IPs. The game launched a new series for the platform, spawned a sequel, Horizon: Forbidden West, and even a Lego spin-off, Horizon: The Lego Adventure, which marked the first time the series has landed on Switch.
Developer Guerrilla Games is likely working on a third mainline Horizon game, and reports suggest the game will also feature a live-service multiplayer spin-off set in the same universe.
