Fantasy fans will have to wait quite a while for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2. Filming is currently in full swing and there is regularly new information about the cast of “The Lord of the Rings” series and the directors. Now Arondir star Ismael Cruz Córdova has his say.
The actor was a fan favorite in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 1 and the Elf’s adventure continues in Season 2. In the season one finale, he joined Bronwyn (Nazanin Boniadi), Theo (Tyroe Muhafidin), and more.
Together we go to the Númenórian settlement of Pelargir. But Arondir, as the only Elf among humans, has to settle in first. Will he make it or will he have to choose between his life as an immortal being and his great love in the end?
In an interview with US magazine TVLine Ismael Cruz Córdova talks about Arondir’s story in “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” Season 2.
We always talk about relationships between elves and humans and humans are always babies in the eyes of the elves, but I think with [Arondir] it’s the other way around as he now dives into people’s lives. He is a toddler in terms of domesticity and being a father or partner.

“That’s the core conflict of this guy. At the end of the day, he’s an immortal being. He’ll outlive the humans someday. He just chose to go with the humans right now, but when he’s called, he will decide for his family or his people?” Cruz Córdova asks the crucial question.
How it will turn out in the end is unclear. In the Lord of the Rings movies, set over 3000 years later, Arondir has no further role, so it would not be unlikely that he will die by the end of the series. Maybe he sacrifices himself for his family. We have to wait and see.
A start date for “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” Season 2 has not yet been set. However, we should not expect new episodes before 2024. Meanwhile, you can watch other series highlights in Amazon Prime Video’s New Releases program!
