Dying Light 2 is said to be supported for years to come. Shortly after the release, the team unveiled a bulging roadmap that extends into 2027. However, the only thing that was really specific was the content that was supposed to appear in 2022. What awaits the fans afterwards, remained vague for the time being.

At least until now. Because to celebrate the one-year anniversary, Techland has revealed what plans have been made for 2023. Lo and behold: this year too Tons of updates and new content intended. The roadmap is an obscenely long image that you can marvel at here in all its glory. We summarize the contents of the roadmap at this point but also a little clearer for you.

February to March

  • Bloody Anniversary Event: From January 31st to February 9th, the game will be running a Birthday Event where you can earn new items by slashing zombies and completing community goals.
  • Nostalgia packages: Three new skin packs will be released that will let you slip into the role of other characters. Among other things, you can appear as Kyle Crane, the hero of the first part.
  • Dropkick weekend: The Dropkick weekend runs from February 9th to 13th. We don’t yet know what’s up for grabs here. But we dare the prediction and say: It probably has to do with drop kicks.
  • Community Update 2: The big community update is out now, bringing cross-gen support, ragdoll improvements, and legendary tiers. The full patch notes are here.

Updates im April

  • Improvement of the combat system with even more brutality
  • A transmog system for customizable clothing
  • Exclusive quests for TechlandGG members

updates in June

  • New special events will be introduced at night.
  • Then there are roaming shadowhunters.
  • The parkour system is to be further improved.

end of 2023

  • The second DLC is released and brings a new story section.
  • The DLC will also introduce a new environment, which according to the developer incomparable is.
  • Finally, the developers promise a new type of weapon that is not intended for close combat.

Overall, however, Dying Light 2 is extremely well received by customers. After all, together with the predecessor and its addon, they are now sold a whopping 30 million copies. So it seems that Techland didn’t overdo it when a service plan until 2027 was already assumed at the time of release.
