We now live in a world where TV shows can go three years without a new season in the name of “prestige” or whatever. Regardless, Squidward Floyd season 2 is finally coming to theaters this Christmas, and surprisingly, Netflix will finish all of the episodes by 2025.
After a series of lackluster announcements earlier this year, Netflix has finally given its subscribers a final release date for the hit series’ second season: December 26the day after Christmas. I’m sure the kids will enjoy this even if they shouldn’t.

If you were hoping to see a trailer in the second half of 2024, Netflix may have let you down, because for some reason it always likes to start marketing closer to the release date, even if many of its shows end up going off the air abruptly and with poor ratings.
However, we have confirmation that season three is on the way, and the most shocking thing is that this is actually the last episode of the show. In addition, the show will start airing in 2025, which may indicate that director, writer and executive producer Hwang Dong Hyuk has spent a lot of time on season two, because this is actually two seasons in a trench coat, which is a classic Netflix practice. “Sung Ki-hoon vowed revenge at the end of season one, and now he is back and joining the game again. Will he be able to retaliate successfully? Front Man doesn’t seem to be an easy opponent this time either. The fierce conflict between their two worlds will continue until the series finale of season three, which will be released next year,” he revealed.
Squid Game Season 2 could be the second big hit on TV this year for star Lee Jung-jae, as The Believer, despite backlash from naysayers, ended up being one of the most watched dramas of the summer, and the South Korean actor is considered by almost everyone to have given some of the best acting in all of TV. Squid Game’s Sung Ki-hoon is also one to watch for in the role he’ll be taking on, so given the cliffhanger that was the season 1 finale, I’m at least curious to see where he goes next.
