Warhammer games and video games are obviously a story that will never end, so we have the right to a new creation, more specifically a sequel to a fairly popular game.
Warhammer 40k: Mechanicus 2, the long-awaited sequel to the 2018 strategy game, was announced during Games Workshop’s Skulls show. This new opus promises to expand on the game mechanics established in the first episode, while introducing new possibilities and factions. Yes, Warhammer games are constantly coming out. It’s not just an impression.
A Warhammer 40K Mechanicus 2 is here
While the first Mechanicus focused on followers of the tech cult Adeptus Mechanicus exploring Necron tombs, Mechanicus 2 now allows players to play as Necrons themselves. Players can defend their world against the Imperium’s invaders and free the surface of their planet from Imperial influence. Pretty cool idea, right?
The game’s plot focuses on Magos Dominus Faustinius, the protagonist of the first game, who responds to a distress call from a colony of the Adeptus Mechanicus. This colony accidentally awakened a Necron tomb, setting off a series of dangerous events. In addition, outside forces even more deadly than the Necrons may also come into play, hinting at possible intervention by the Chaos Gods.
Mechanicus 2 promises to enrich the gaming experience with several new features. Players can now manage garrisons in their territory and benefit from an expanded selection of fighters from the various Warhammer 40k factions. Destructible terrain adds an additional tactical dimension and allows players to exploit the environment strategically.
The excellent script by Ben Counter, author of the Warhammer 40k books, and the captivating soundtrack by Guillaume David, which contributed to the success of the first game, also return for this sequel. Their involvement guarantees a high quality continuity in the game’s narrative and soundscape.
