The twisted metal series has revealed new details about Season 1, including the overall tone of the TV show, which will follow in the footsteps of the Zombieland films.
Through an interview with our colleagues at IGN, the Twisted Metal series announces its news.
Will the Twisted Metal series be in the spirit of the original games? According to Carter Swan, Senior Producer at PlayStation Studios, the teams strive to incorporate all the elements that characterize the franchise. The cars, the post-apocalyptic setting, or even Sweet Tooth and his ice cream truck.
An iconic figure that alone represents the license. He’ll be called Will Arnett (LEGO Batman, the movie, BoJack Horseman…) but it’s wrestler Samoa Joe who will embody him physically. A very scary clown who will rub shoulders with other characters including those of Neve Campbell and Anthony Mackie.
It should be all the more faithful as creators Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese (Deadpool, Zombieland) and showrunner Michael Jonathan Smith (Cobra Kai) say they are fans. A twisted metal series comparable in tone and violence to Zombieland.
Our showrunner Michael Jonathan Smith, one of Cobra Kai’s great writers, was a huge fan of the game and wanted it to be fun even in the dark times. The game is just so much fun and crazy so we’re trying to capture that as best as we can.
Zombieland is a good barometer of what we can do. Her thing is that you can have fun even in the most total apocalypse. You are able to take these violent and ridiculous things and make them funny.
As a reminder, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese are the writers of the Zombieland films, hence the comparison.
