It is still hard to imagine The Simpsons as a product of the Disney factory. Ever since they acquired the content rights to FOX, the Yellow Family had a bumpy debut on Disney + because the broadcast format spoiled some pranks. But the series has hundreds of resources to remain a reference in animation. Now the winks to Marvel in The Simpsons will be more recurring because if they like the series are their crossovers. We have seen Thanos on the family sofa, the Fantastic Four and Stan Lee himself, creator of Spider-Man and other Marvel characters. Now the omelette has been turned and The Simpsons have entered the Marvel Universe.
In the latest issue of Immortal Hulk, there is a clear reference to The Simpsons, turning them into comic characters. In one of his vignettes, written by Alul Ewing and Joe Bennett, the villain Xemnu tries to manipulate the population into believing that the Hulk is the real threat. Then four children are shown on the street with a evident resemblance to Nelson, Bart, Milhouse and Lisa. Of course it is no coincidence and the writers have made an incredible nod to the Matt Groening series. There are more clues that confirm this cameo of the animated characters, in addition to their appearance.
They are in front of a school very similar to the one in the series and the conversation hides the letters where it says springfield. Finally, Bart repeatedly says the word "Embiggen" (widens), a term that was used in the episode Lisa the iconoplast, where the young woman investigates the past of the local hero Jebediah Springfield and tries to expose him. Jebediah's phrase passed to posterity as «A noble spirit enlarges the smallest man», but the word in the original version was totally invented because it doesn't exist.
