In a statement from EA (via Business Wire), The Sims 4 set a franchise record, reportedly surpassing 70 million players. It’s a remarkable feat, and it means there are more Sims 4 players than there are in the UK.
The Sims 4 launched less than a decade ago in 2014. Recently, EA also revealed its upcoming Project Rene, which is no doubt the working title for The Sims 5. The news hasn’t stopped The Sims 4 from growing, though, with a loyal community of sims who create impressive builds, tell compelling stories, and ultimately have fun.
The Sims 4 announced 70 million players, making it the most played game in the 23-year history of The Sims franchise. News aside, the latest expansion – Grow Together – saw The Sims 4’s most successful launch week for various expansions and kits.
Again, that’s an impressive feat considering The Sims 4 has over 10 expansion packs, and even more paid suites and packs to choose from.
In EA’s announcement, The Sims 4 Executive Producer Phillip Ring shared: “Watching our community grow over the past eight years, our players continue to use the Sims to explore life’s myriad It’s unbelievable the way it motivates us.”
“We know The Sims 4 continues to be a creative outlet for people, and our team is committed to delivering new and innovative game content that allows our players to embrace the chaos that comes with self-discovery.”
And that’s not all for The Sims 4, it also revealed two new paid bundles for the upcoming game. The Greenhouse Haven and Basement Treasures kit will allow Sims to build the garden and/or cozy basement of their dreams, filled with items for eco-friendly Sims, as well as cozy furniture to adorn these barren basements.
Are you one of the 70 million players who have played The Sims 4 over the years? Of course I dabble here and there.
