After ten years and around 70 DLCs, some problems have accumulated in The Sims 4. EA now wants to tackle these problems with a specially created team.
The Sims 4 is now ten years old and after countless DLCs and expansions, the basic structure seems to have become a little rickety. The game now has plenty of technical problems. But that doesn’t seem to be damaging the popularity of the classic.
Electronic Arts has now also recognized this and announced via X/Twitter that it is now ready to tackle the problems after all. “Today we can announce that we have assembled a team that will invest in the core gaming experience,” it continues, “including the issues you have reported.”
According to EA, there will be a big push for bug fixes to be released over the next six months. The first patch is due to be released this month, with others to follow at intervals of around two months.
On the official website, EA has also added a “Laundry List“, in which the said statement can also be read. In the article, Electronic Arts also lists some of the problems that will be addressed in the near future.
The Sims 4 still seems to be bringing in enough money for EA to invest more effort after such a long time. Not exactly typical: with the rather unsuccessful PC versions of Wild Hearts or Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, EA stopped any further effort pretty quickly after initial updates and left both games in a mixed state.
It remains unclear when a successor to The Sims 4 can be expected. Reports about the game, such as possible free-to-play or initial test phases, keep cropping up, but The Sims 5 has not yet been officially introduced.
