After days of teasing on social media, we now know The Sims 4 Crystal Creation Item Pack is the next add-on for EA’s behemoth life simulator, and it turns out it’s set to launch soon – by the end of this month. The pack appears to expand on the metal and crystal collection system that’s been around since the base game, finally allowing your Sims to show off some bling after mining the shiny rocks that spawn in the world.

Previously, the only use for crystals and metals, other than collecting them to gain satisfaction points, was to examine them for scientific purposes and then display them as raw blocks, sell them, or put them into rather distracting celestial crystals In The Crown, this has some powerful effects but doesn’t look very stylish.
New material packs significantly expand the uses of metals and crystals, allowing Sims to craft a variety of cosmetics and decorations from their collection of raw materials. This is the second data pack released for The Sims 4 since the DLC genre returned from a long hiatus, following last year’s Home Chef Hustle data pack. It continues the popular trend of item packs, adding significant gameplay additions in addition to new cosmetics and furniture, which are often popular considering they usually cost £10/$10.
This isn’t the first time The Sims series has featured jewelry crafting, though its only appearance to date was in 2004’s console spin-off The Urbz: The Sims in the City, which technically This pack really marks its introduction to the core set. The Sims 4 is celebrating its 10th anniversary later this year, so it’s no surprise that we’re seeing a lot of new ideas coming to the scene, as most of the favorite old pastimes have been brought back to life via DLC or updates.
