Frogwares has released its Lovecraft-inspired adventure The Sinking City for Xbox Series X / S. Owners of the Xbox One version, however, look into the tube this time.

First the good news. The Sinking City is now available as a standalone version for Xbox Series X / S. Two versions of the game are available, the Standard Edition and the Deluxe Edition including the DLC Merciful Madness. As expected, the new version supports 4K and 60 fps, as well as faster loading times thanks to the internal SSD, and the graphics have also been enhanced.

Now the bad news: owners of the Xbox One version will not have the option of a free upgrade to the next-gen version this time. The reason for this is a legal dispute, because the earlier versions were still published by NACON, while the next-gen versions are distributed directly by Frogwares. As long as the dispute between NACON and Frogware continues, you will not have the opportunity to upgrade.

In The Sinking City, you take on the role of war veteran and private detective Charles W. Reed, who is plagued by visions of a sunken city and, while investigating a small town in Massachusetts, comes across dark Lovecraft-style secrets.
