The Acolyte is perhaps the most exciting Star Wars series coming our way in the next few years. Because their story not only takes place in an era that we had never seen before in the cinema or on Disney Plus, at the same time an interesting change of perspective awaits us: Instead of the Jedi, the focus is on the Sith.

At least that’s what Dafne Keen promises. The actress from Logan or His Dark Materials let herself be interviewed TechRadar elicit at least one or two details about the story of The Acolyte. Slowly but surely, a clearer picture of the Star Wars series is emerging. By the way: An overview of all new series set in the Star Wars universe can be found here:

Change of perspective in the Star Wars universe

When does The Acolyte play? The story of The Acolyte takes place approximately 100 years before the events of Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace. The series thus fits into the era of the so-called High Republic, which has been expanded in recent years in the course of numerous comics and books. There was no High Republic film, TV series, or video game until The Acolyte. Star Wars Eclipse is also part of this era – but that will probably be a few years away.

Dafne Keen now reveals: The actress reveals to TechRadar that The Acolyte explains how the Sith managed to infiltrate the Jedi and the Republic. According to Keen, the Sith are even at the center of the story. Something that Dafne Keen says hasn’t been done in this form before.

Of course it’s debatable. After all, episodes 1 to 6 are considered the story of Anakin Skywalker, who spent most of his screen time as a Sith and not as a Jedi. It will be interesting to see how much The Acolyte manages to get out of its premise.

What else we know about The Acolyte

Die Story: Concrete information about the plot or the characters of the Star Wars series is currently rare. Officially, The Acolyte is billed as a mystery thriller about dark forces surging during the final days of the High Republic era.

A former Jedi Padawan works with his former master to investigate a series of mysterious crimes and uncover a sinister conspiracy. Fans already suspected that The Acolyte could be about the story of Darth Plagueis – the master of Darth Sidious or Emperor Palpatine.

Like the Quantic Dream game Star Wars Eclipse tries to capture the look of the High Republic, you can see it in the following cinematic trailer:

Filming start and potential release: Filming of the Star Wars series started in early November 2022, so a start on Disney Plus in late 2023 or early 2024 cannot be ruled out. So far, however, there is no official information as to when The Acolyte will be released.

The occupation: Besides Dafne Keen, the cast includes Lee Jung-Jae (Squid Game), Carrie Anne Moss (The Matrix), Jodie Turner-Smith (Nightflyers), Charlie Barnett (Matryoshka) and Dean-Charles Chapman (1917).
