News culture The Star Wars The Acolyte series has ended on Disney+, but there is a prequel that few fans know about to understand everything about this universe
On July 16, 2024, Disney ended the first season of The Acolyte after the eighth and final episode aired. Although the launch of a sequel to this Star Wars series seems to be only a matter of time, a prequel already exists. It allows fans to learn more about this universe and, in particular, the time of the High Republic.
A second season for The Acolyte?
It seems unlikely that Disney will not capitalize on the universe of The Acolyte and High Republic. The end of the first season opens many more doors to the story than it closes, and the cameo appearances of Yoda and Darth Plagueis (Darth Sidious’ master / Chancellor Palpatine / The Emperor) show a desire to continue the story of Osha, Mae, and the Jedi Order.
Qimir, Mae’s Sith Master, is still alive. A mysterious Sith – Darth Plagueis – makes a fleeting appearance. Osha is definitely moving towards the dark side. The Jedi High Council hides the emergence of the dark side from the Galactic Senate. Finally, The Jedi Knight Venestra Rwoh seeks advice from Master Yoda to track down the Sith threat in the shadows. Suffice it to say, The Acolyte still has a lot to tell, so a season 2 wouldn’t be too much to reflect this troubled time in Star Wars history.
Star Wars: The Acolyte is available on Disney+.
A novel series marking the beginning of the High Republic era
Long before the series The Acolyte aired exclusively on Disney+, The North American entertainment giant has invested the High Republic era in Star Wars with a first novel by Charles Soule. “Light of the Jedi” takes place 130 years before those of “The Acolyte” and describes the golden age of this distant galaxy, whose expansion began in 1977 with George Lucas.
Thus begins the Haute République with the novels The Light of the Jedi (2022), The Storm Rumbles (2022) and The Fall of the Star (2022). Over the course of months and then years, several comics, mangas, short stories and radio plays were added each of which, in their own way, enriches a period little known to the general public and even fans. If you want to learn more about this moment in Star Wars history when the Galactic Republic was at the height of its power, Disney’s cross-media project is open to you.
The summary of “Light of the Jedi”: It is a golden age for the galaxy. Intrepid hyperspace explorers extend the Republic’s boundaries to the farthest stars, worlds thrive under the benevolent guidance of the Senate, and peace reigns, preserved by the wisdom and might of an order of knights known as the Jedi. However, even the brightest brilliance can cast a shadow. When a catastrophic event causes a ship to break apart in the heart of hyperspace, the resulting rain of debris endangers an entire star system. The Jedi immediately head to the scene, but the scale of the disaster pushes the brave knights to their limits. As a clash of the titans begins to save millions of lives, a threat grows in the darkness that can strike fear into the Jedi. (Disney)
