Sitting in silence for seven years, developing a game single-handedly: The Polish solo developer Slavic Magic has now released the result, the building game Manor Lords, on Steam. And the success is resounding.

Admittedly, the hype could no longer be ignored, especially as more and more insiders who were able to try out Manor Lords drew enthusiastic conclusions. Nevertheless, the extent of Steam’s success is surprising – the building game genre rarely produces big blockbusters.
More than a million units sold in 24 hours, over 170,000 active players at the same time, second place in the highest-grossing Steam games of the previous week… that speaks for itself. What we’re left with: A story of a developer who, with sheer persistence and perseverance, turns his vision into (digital) reality.
