Crazy stories about Teslas are the order of the day, even if Elon Musk’s electric cars are technological gems. One Model Y driver found out the hard way when he found himself with the steering wheel on his lap.
Tesla’s trouble
Whimsical (and sometimes dramatic) stories about Tesla are common. In recent months, the American manufacturer has been at the center of several controversies, be it e.g a history of braking on the Autobahn orsudden acceleration in the middle of the city. And yet, Elon Musk keeps telling us his electric cars are engineering gems, and guess what, he’s right
On the other hand, the steering wheels of the automaker’s cars were also the result of many questions at the concern’s plants. Yoke steering wheel or classic steering wheel, that is the question here. If you follow the news related to the American brand, you probably know that the yoke steering wheel – due to its atypical format – has made a lot of noise among Model S and Model X users, and while Tesla firmly believed in its acquisition, Elon Musk and his teams have finally backed down and left the choice of their steering wheel to future buyers of the above models
The steering wheel of a Tesla rips off mid-drive
Last month, a Tesla user had an unusual and rather disturbing issue with their Model Y. Driving down the freeway in his brand new car (delivered January 24), Prerak Patel was surprised to see his steering wheel snap off and fall in his lap. After a brief moment of panic, the protagonist managed to free himself from the danger zone by stepping to the side. Lucky for him the freeway wasn’t too busy at the time of the problem.
through his Twitter account, Prerak Patel then explained the steps he took to obtain the right to compensation. First of all, we learn that he contacted the Tesla Service Center to report his problem and that the American manufacturer wanted to hold them responsible by demanding a payment of $103. Offended by this request, he then took to his little Twitter account and contacted the media to speak out about his mishap.
result, within a few days, Tesla came back to him, initially offering to fix his vehicle for free before eventually changing his mind. (after a Opinion poll) and making the decision to deliver him a brand new Model Y. The American manufacturer also made it clear that this spectacular problem is not due to a malfunction. The brand’s communicators state that they acted out of goodwill, but still refuse to take responsibility for this strange issue. Mr Patel obviously dialed the wrong number, which sometimes happens. Luckily for him and his family more fear than harm.
