Game news The studio behind Ghostwire Tokyo, Evil Within and Hi-Fi Rush on upcoming projects
Tango Gameworks, the studio founded by Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil), hasn’t finished talking about him. Not happy to have created the event earlier this year with Hi-Fi Rush, the studio said it will “continue to offer unique titles.”
Tango enters the dance
We’ve been talking about Tango Gameworks for the past few months for two reasons. The first is Hi-Fi Rush, the big surprise from Microsoft’s Developer_Direct that has impressed everyone. This feel-good game, while the studio had by then accustomed us to horrifying stories, had allowed itself the luxury of making a Beyoncé-worthy diva move by making itself available shortly after its official announcement. Rated 17/20 by us and rewarded with a nice 87 Metacritic, Hi-Fi Rush was a nice slap in the face.
The second reason is a little less encouraging as it relates to Shinji Mikami’s departure. In the following months“. The creator of Resident Evil, who has been in the industry for more than 30 years, has actually decided to turn the page at Tango Gameworksa studio he founded in 2010.”We wish Mikami-san all the best for the future and look forward to what the talented developers at Tango have in store.

Despite the announced exit of its founder, the studio plans to continue its momentum. While Ghostwire Tokyo has just come out on Xbox, John Johanas posted a message on Twitter to encourage new talent to come and work at Tango Gameworks. The Hi-Fi Rush director wrote: “We have vacancies for future Tango projects. We are particularly looking for animators and technical animators. As you can see we do a lot of weird, fun and innovative things. So if you are interested please apply.”

On the announcement we can read that Tango Gameworks “will continue to deliver unique titles for everyone to enjoy by making the most of the unique ideas and technologies of Japanese developers‘, stating that the studio ‘involved in the development of new IPs as well as games belonging to the series“. Many Easter eggs in Hi-Fi Rush hint at the possible return of The Evil Within. Since the second episode was produced by John Johanas, evidence of a third closure is obviously possible.
