The studio would have made a radical decision for the franchise

Decision, franchise, Radical, studio

Given all the problems encountered before and after the release of Halo Infinite, especially technical ones, 343 Industries would have decided to start from scratch.

Even today, developing Halo Infinite is tricky. Several items have been delayed again and the studio continues to lose valuable members. In order not to experience this again, 343 Industries would completely change its game engine.

Halo: Goodbye Slipspace Engine, hello Unreal Engine 5?

It seems hard to believe, but according to journalist Jeremy Penter, 343 Industries would be turning to the Unreal Engine 5 for the future of the franchise. Because of this, the team would move away from its in-house engine, the Slipspace Engine.

I can only confirm what many sources say. It’s clear that the decision has already been made, and that’s for sure, Halo goes to the Unreal Engine.

The Slispace engine is intended to make the developer’s task easier in principle, but not only. The studio preferred proprietary tools at the time, not UE4, to have an engine that would meet their needs in physics and such.

Has Unreal Engine 5 changed teams’ minds? If this is confirmed, what will happen to Halo Infinite? Because 343 Industries’ original plans were to support it for 10 years. Such a decision, combined with problems and departures, could perhaps hasten their end. Anything can happen, but in the meantime the roadmap is being drawn with the addition of online mode on November 8th, the Forge beta in the same month, and Season 3 Echoes Within from March 7th to June 27th, 2023.
