Skyrim looks old against The Witcher 3 – at least visually.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt celebrates his tenth anniversary in 2025. But that is not the only reason for the developer at CD Projekt Red. Because as can be seen from the current financial report of the publisher, the role -playing game has now sold a total of 60 million times.
The Witcher 3 has thus cracked a brand that was only reorganized by The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim in 2023.
No record holder yet
The CD project boss is proud: All versions sold count for the invoice, i.e. not only the standard variant, but also the Goty Edition. Of course, extensions were not included. Adam Badowski, CEO of CD Projekt Red, proudly comments in the report:
Without a doubt, the third part of Geralt's adventures marks a turning point in our history. The game was honored with hundreds of awards and has consolidated the position of our studio, but it is even more important that it gave millions of players all over the world full hours full of adventures and emotions.
I am proud to be able to announce that The Witcher 3 has sold over 60 million times since its publication – it is one of the best -selling video games of all time and motivates us to work intensively on the next trilogy in this universe.

The three best -selling games ever
According to the scientific statistical portal Statista the most well-sold game is the Sandbox adventure Minecraft, which was able to sell an incredible 350 million units. Second place goes to the Gangster epic GTA (210 million) and third place to the sports game Wii Sports (82.9 million).
However, it should be noted here that it is only the latest data available in April 2025. Since numbers are not published regularly, they can be a few months or even years old. That is why The Witcher 3 is still recorded with 50 million units.
