Big N hosted its Nintendo Direct accompanied by an Indie World. A highly anticipated speech, but for Nintendo Switch players it’s a cold shower.
It was a highly anticipated speech. After many rumors, Big N announced that it would hold a Nintendo Direct, followed by an Indie World. The Japanese publisher had immediately dampened expectations: no Nintendo Switch 2 in sight, nor any in-house productions. The result was a conference that, despite everything, fell short of expectations, with a plethora of ports, remasters and compilations of all kinds. Here is the big summary of all the announcements from the Nintendo Direct of August 2024.
All Nintendo Direct announcements
After a notable absence at Gamescom 2024, Big N has decided to communicate about the games that will accompany the Nintendo Switch at the end of its cycle. As expected, Zelda, Mario and Donkey Kong stayed at home to give prominence to independent titles and partner productions. So there were no big announcements during this Nintendo Direct, but a few new games were presented. Starting with Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land, the new episode of the franchise that promises to be darker than the other entries. The cauldron will have to be brought out again in early 2025. As for Japan’s most important sagas, the Yakuza franchise will finally arrive on Nintendo Switch on October 25, 2024, when Tales of Grace F Remaster will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the license on January 17, 2025.
Civilization 7 also presented its gameplay on Nintendo Switch, Dragon Quest 3 Remake revealed its new playable class when the My Sims collection was officially released after some unfortunate leaks. On the independent side, Balatro will launch its collaboration with The Witcher 3 and a few other productions today. The excellent Sea of Stars lifted the veil on its two upcoming free DLCs when Neva, the new game from the creators of GRIS, scheduled its release for October 15, 2024. LEGO Horizon Adventures made a flash appearance during this Nintendo Direct. However, the launch date was not officially announced. As a reminder, Sony accidentally revealed the truth. Aloy would arrive on Nintendo Switch on November 14, 2024.
