Despite what fans might want, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’s game director had to remind fans that Hollywood couldn’t be part of everything in the series.
Hollywood is annoying. The bigwigs like to get caught up in licensing issues that no one really cares about, it’s just a way to protect IP, most people probably don’t even care, but they could theoretically make money off of it, so obviously no one can do what they want . The CEO of Texas Chainsaw Massacre developer Gun Interactive had to remind some fans of the fact that due to licensing reasons (thanks Eurogamer), the team is limited in what they can add to their upcoming asymmetrical survival horror game .

“As a friendly reminder. We own the interactive rights to the 1974 film. We can’t put characters or locations from other TX films in it because we don’t have those rights,” CEO Wes Keltner said earlier this week. He wrote on his own Twitter. “My advice to you: Get hyped for what’s out there. Tell everyone you know. Post on social, retweet and talk about the game. In my experience, Hollywood responds to buzz, not demands. β As I mentioned about the whole money thing, money does speak, so as gross as it is, if you want the Texas Chainsaw Massacre video game version to have one itβs not limited to the first movie.
Last year, during the Xbox Games Showcase, we got our first official look at the survival horror game, which is due out this August. In it, you can take on the role of one of the Slaughter family members or try to survive as one of their victims. While the game certainly looks good, adapting it was a somewhat odd choice, given that the original film was more artsy than many might have imagined.
My advice to you:
Get hyped for what’s there. Tell everyone you know. Post, retweet and discuss games on social media.
In my experience, Hollywood responds to buzz, not demands.
