last symphonywhich, in our opinion, is one of the best of the many video game concert shows, returns to the UK in 2023.
As a bonus, the show actually has a store somewhere outside of London as well. The Final Symphony will be performed in Birmingham, the UK’s second largest city, with the concert by the Birmingham City Symphony Orchestra, which celebrated its 100th anniversary just a few years ago.
For the uninitiated, Final Symphony takes a different approach to many video game concerts. It’s a more traditional orchestral experience: no big screens, no light shows or fireworks – a more purely traditional classical music experience, but with video game music.
Led by production company Merregnon Studios, the series has hosted concerts around the world based on various video game franchises. As the name suggests, Final Symphony is a final fantasy affairs. This makes sense, since we certainly think FF is one of the best music video game series out there.
The concert, scheduled for Birmingham, UK, is a show featuring music from Final Fantasy 6, 7 and 10. The symphony’s crowning piece is Final Fantasy VII Symphony, a 45-minute epic that covers nearly all of the game’s most iconic themes in exciting new arrangements. This special concert program was performed for the first time in Germany in 2013.
I’ve seen this concert before and it’s chilling down my spine – I honestly do believe it’s a step above the rest, although it does a good job of spreading the focus between the big screen spectacle and the music itself. While I love these events too, it’s a very different experience than Far Away: The Music of Final Fantasy, which returns to London this October. I can’t recommend it enough.
Final Symphony: Music from Final Fantasy will take place on April 16th, 2023 in Birmingham, UK. Tickets will go on sale later this month, on May 25.
