Anno 1404 in a video review – »Actually, Anno 1404 should already be Anno 1800«
Genre: Development strategy | Developer: Related Designs | Release: 25. June 2009 | To offer: Year 1404 free
Anno 1404 has been giving away at Ubisoft since the beginning of the week. That means you can keep this milestone forever. This is even the History Edition of the building game. So you get the revised version including the Venice add-on.
What makes Anno 1404 so good? Anno 1404 combines many of the classic Anno strengths. You colonize a multitude of islands and build ever larger, medieval cities there. To grow you have to meet the needs of your people. While simple farmers initially only want food and simple drinks, the aristocrats later demand genuine luxury goods such as books or jewelry.
For this reason, in Anno 1404 you can colonize both European and oriental islands. Here completely different rules apply, as large parts of the desert areas first have to be made fertile. In addition, the residents here demand completely different goods. Typically for Anno there is always something to do and optimize. The cogs mesh perfectly and the game knows how to motivate you for hundreds of hours. How Anno 1404 plays in 2021, we checked for you in the summer:

Does Anno 1404 still have a chance against Anno 1800 in 2021?
How to get the game: Anno 1404 is currently being given away directly from Ubisoft. So you have to go to the official site, log in with your account or register and the game will be added to your account. Then you can simply download the building game via Ubisoft Connect – which shouldn’t take particularly long. Once you’ve struck, you can keep Anno 1404 forever.
- Offer is valid until: December 14, 2021
- Platform: Ubisoft Connect
These games are also permanently given away for free
Anno 1404 isn’t the only game that is being given away forever this weekend. There are a total of four different PC games that you can keep forever. Including again two weekly Epic gifts.
- Prison Architect: Another very exciting free building game. In Prison Architect you first build several prison blocks and then of course draw a wall around the whole area so that they can

stay where you are. You are concerned about safety, but you should also consider the well-being of the inmates. Otherwise you will quickly have a prison riot on your neck. The game is being given away on the Epic Store until December 16th. - Godfall: The action role-playing game Godfall can score with visual power and entertaining fights, but weakens in terms of scope and story. But the free promotion at Epic does not apply to the whole game anyway, but only includes a stripped-down version. You will be thrown straight into the endgame. The game is being given away on the Epic Store until December 16th.
- Call of Juarez: Gunslinger: This is the anti-thesis for Red Dead Redemption 2. Hose level instead of Open World. But the game scores with cracking revolver action. In the role of the gunslinger Silas we shoot our way across the Wild West and score points for particularly high combos. Sounds like brainless fun, but CoJ: Gunslinger actually offers a very interesting story. The game is being given away on Steam until December 14th.

You can try these games for free
Several games are available for free at short notice this weekend in both the Epic Store and Steam. These are not demos, but full versions with an expiration date. So you can download the games and play as much as you want, but only until a certain day. If you stick to it, you might even get through some of them.
- XCOM 2: This strategy game is currently considered to be one of the best turn-based games at all. You are forming an army of resistance against alien occupiers who have settled on earth. As part of XCOM, you send squads on dangerous missions. The soldiers get better and better, but if you don’t pay attention, you send them to their death and then lose them forever. XCOM 2 is free on Steam until December 13th.
- Europa Universalis IV: Paradox Interactive is responsible for many highly complex strategy games. These titles are sometimes a bit overwhelming, but tell exciting stories from history. In EU4 we lead our nation from renaissance to revolution, wage wars, forge diplomatic ties and drive change in society. Europa Universalis is free on Steam until December 13th.
- theHunter: Call of the Wild: Hunting animals in real life as a hobby is certainly debatable, but one cannot deny a certain fascination with this activity. But then rather digitally, in a 50 square kilometer game world full of American forests, fields and corresponding wild animals. theHunter: Call of the Wild is free on Steam until December 12th.
- Chivalry 2: The Medieval Battlefield once emerged from a mod, but the second part at the latest is a high-quality multiplayer game with impressive graphics. Here you take part in huge battles, lead bloody hand-to-hand battles or attack with a bow. If you choose the latter option, you are of course cowardly dogs without honor. Chivalry 2 is free on Epic until December 12th.

- Deadlokk: One of the more unusual mobas. In this multiplayer game you compete in space battles against other players and upgrade your spaceship as you progress. You can choose from several ships, each of which has different properties. Deadlokk is free on Steam until December 12th.
- Fear surrounds: This asynchronous multiplayer game brings together two Twitch phenomena: Phasmophobia and Among Us. It’s about a group of people who actually work together. But two of them are actually evil spirits who seek the life of everyone else. Fear surrounds is free on Steam through December 13th.
