The Werewolf’s werewolf looks a little ridiculous during its reveal at Halloween Horror Nights, but we can still inhale some

Halloween, Horror, inhale, Nights, reveal, ridiculous, Werewolf, Werewolfs

In case you’ve forgotten, there’s a new Werewolf movie coming out, and since it’s being directed by The Invisible Man (2020)’s Leigh Whannell, we’re pretty excited about it, but our (so-called) first look at the monster’s design didn’t make us chuckle, but terrified.

Via X/Twitter user SpeculationMatt, who seems to specialize in covering Halloween Horror Nights (an interesting area for sure), we got our first look at the werewolf from Blumhouse and Universal Pictures’ The Wolf Man, or at least that’s what we’re supposed to get from this marketing campaign, right?

As you can see, the costume looks pretty cheap, but that’s not really a problem, as we highly doubt they just gave the actors copies of the costumes used in the film’s production. What’s worrying is the design itself, which barely features a wolf. I mean, that’s just an old guy turned background fantasy character freak. In fact, I’m pretty sure I’m a more convincing werewolf when I haven’t been to the barbershop for two months and haven’t had my morning caffeine.

Cheap jokes aside, there’s a good chance that’s not actually The Wolf Man’s titular werewolf. Sure, you’d expect the big reveal at Halloween Horror Nights to feature an actual werewolf, but looking at other attractions and performers (just scroll through users’ recent videos), many of the other costumes don’t look too similar to their respective characters on screen, either. What’s the point of revealing a movie if the actual monster isn’t revealed? Well, I don’t fucking know, but I’m sure movie executives roll the dice all the time, so there’s a good chance someone thought it would be a good idea to put a random Halloween costume in front of a fuzzy banner for a horror movie and then wait until the first trailer is released.

The worst (but funniest) ending is that this orc or whatever actually represents At least A half and half werewolf so we can get a real wild ride. If that’s the case, I wonder if he’ll be guarding a bridge at some point.

This modern take on the 1941 Werewolf is set to hit theaters on January 17, 2025 (F**k You, It’s), so for better or worse, a trailer should be upon us soon. In the meantime, James Wan may be preparing a Creature from the Black Lagoon remake for Universal’s modern “classic monsters” push.
