The Witcher fanbase is in a bit of a tizzy right now, as CD Projekt RED may announce the next-gen versions later today.
Could it be that the long-awaited release date of the PS5 and Xbox Series versions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be announced later today? Speculations are bubbling up, at least on Reddit, after a user claimed that the date should be announced within the next 24 hours.
This is far from certain and certainly not confirmed, but since a “strategy update” of the CD Projekt Group is supposed to take place this afternoon, the speculation is certainly fueled. This is also reinforced by hints from some CDPR employees on Twitter, who are making a good mood for the strategy update.
A strategy update sounds a bit drier and possibly intended for investors and shareholders, but the release of important titles can also be a part of it – after all, men and women want to know when money will be flushed into the coffers. The whole thing is supposed to take place today at 5:15 p.m., then we will know for sure.
So far, CDPR has not given a specific date, but at least it can be deduced from previous statements that the next-gen version is on course for a release this year. Wouldn’t be stupid, with the release calendar for the rest of the year, which has been greatly thinned out by postponements, an autumn release before the Christmas business would certainly not look bad.
