We already reported that the release of the Netflix series on The Witcher also gave the latest part of the role-playing series by CD Projekt RED a boost. However, it is now so remarkable that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is currently more successful than at the launch.

The promising series implementation of "The Witcher" by Netflix was eagerly awaited, and it finally started on December 20 with the first season. What positive effect this would in turn have on the current video game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, should not have even CD Projekt RED imagined in the wildest dreams.

We already reported that thanks to the series, several players on Steam have returned to the world of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and have given the game the highest number of players in a long time. After all, the title has been on the market since 2015. However, as it turns out, the end of the flagpole was far from being reached.

As quirky as it sounds, The Witcher 3 is actually actually more popular on the PC than it was when the RPG episode was originally launched. Apparently not only old players have returned to the role-playing world, but also a number of newcomers.

Result: Last Sunday, December 29th, a new record was set for the simultaneously gamers of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on Steam. This was a whopping 94,651 gamers – and that is actually more than the original game release, which was known to be anything but unsuccessful. The Witcher 3 can also be found at number 7 of the currently most played games on Steam.

For comparison: In the original release month in 2015, the peak value of the simultaneously gambling RPG fans was 92,268 gamers; as a result, this number decreased continuously, apart from an intermediate high of almost 54,000 gamers in June 2016 when the expansion "Blood and Wine" was released.

Even before the brand was cracked by 94,000 gamers, Marcin Momot from CD Projekt RED on Twitter was accordingly enthusiastic – as you can see from the inserted tweet. Unfortunately, surveys from other popular PC platforms of the game such as GOG.com or also from the PS4 or Xbox One are not available. The Witcher 3 has also been available for the Switch since this year.
