As is well known, a multiplayer spin-off to The Witcher, Codename Sirius, is also in the works, and there is now a new snippet of information about it: The title will probably use a class-based character system.
It has been known for some time that Boston-based The Molasses Flood is working on the spin-off The Witcher: Codename Sirius. The game was confirmed in October 2022, but later the focus of the title was slightly re-orientated and placed on the multiplayer part – also to save costs.
Otherwise, things have been rather quiet around th is Witcher project recently, but a job advertisement has now provided a new piece of information. The studio is now looking for a senior or principal combat designer, whose tasks will include implementing “the combat behavior of each character type.” The wording suggests that Codename Sirius will rely on a class-based character system.
The job posting also states that the upcoming Witcher title will also feature boss enemies; despite the game’s multiplayer focus, this also suggests PvE elements. The job posting is in line with previous similar offers in The Molasses Flood, which introduced both PvP and co-op multiplayer elements to the Witcher game.
It is still unclear when The Witcher: Codename Sirius will be released. CD Projekt RED’s last annual report revealed that only 39 employees were working on the game. This is also why a release is not expected for several years. We will of course keep you updated!
With The Witcher: Codename Polaris aka The Witcher 4, CD Projekt RED is also working on a new main part of the RPG series.
