The Witcher continues to make a name for itself, but no longer in the gaming area after the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The focus is rather on the successfully launched Netflix series, but gamers will also have reason to be happy in the future.

While the entire video game world feels waiting for the release of the promising sci-fi epic Cyberpunk 2077 in September this year, developer CD Projekt RED is also looking beyond that – and is now making fans of the fantasy series The Witcher happy . The RPG series around the Witcher Geralt by Riva will definitely go into the next round.
In conversation with Eurogamer Poland Adam Kicinski, President of CD Projekt RED, has now spoken. After the completion of Cyberpunk 2077, the development team should be divided into three separate teams. While part will focus on additional content for the sci-fi epic, a second team will tackle the multiplayer project and start working on the multiplayer part for Cyberpunk 2077.
The third team that will be most interesting for Witcher fans is that this will work with the work on a new title within the long-standing role-playing success series. However, the game is not likely to be called The Witcher 4 and will be a clumsy sequel. The direction in which the story of the Witcher Geralt von Riva is developing will therefore be observed with great suspense.
"We have created a relatively clear concept that is waiting for further development," said Kicinski regarding the next Witcher project. "We have two worlds and within these worlds we want to create new games, so all of the planned games have to do with either Witcher or Cyberpunk."
A little bit of bitterness: The new Witcher project should initially employ the smallest of the three planned teams, so it will be a long time coming. To put the whole thing in the appropriate time context: The multiplayer game for Cyberpunk 2077 is currently scheduled for 2022 and is much earlier than the next The Witcher.
