We all know: Henry Cavill is leaving and Liam Hemsworth is coming in Season 4 of The Witcher on Netflix. Now there is a first teaser video showing Hemsworth in his new role.
With the third season of The Witcher, Netflix has already lost a lot of sympathy from fans who felt the series had strayed too far from the books and games. The departure of Henry Cavill as Geralt has not made things any better, especially since there has been some controversy about the reasons. What is certain, however, is that Liam Hemsworth will take over the role from the fourth season onwards, and will then conclude the series with season 5. A decision that was also not received with much favor.
Now Netflix has released a first teaser video along with a photo showing Hemsworth as Geralt. Nothing overwhelming, just Geralt, accompanied by Roach, walking through the misty landscape and turning towards the camera.
“His look has been in development for over a year, so it’s exciting to finally get an official look at Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia,” The Witcher showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich told EW.
“The cast and crew alike are impressed by the passion, energy and embodiment that Liam has brought to the role from day one – the scruffy beard, the iconic scar and all! We’re having so much fun filming season four and look forward to taking fans on this journey,” Hissrich continued.
Fortunately, the cast of the main characters remains unchanged, apart from a few new additions, including Laurence Fishburne as Regis and Danny Woodburn as Zoltan Chivay. It is currently not known when Season 4 of The Witcher will start on Netflix. Filming only recently started in the UK. What is relatively certain, however, is that the series will end after the fifth season.
