The Witcher: These 11 things reveal the first trailer about season 2 of the Netflix series

In the course of the WitcherCon there Netflix Lots of news about the fans long-awaited 2nd season of “The Witcher“known. So it is now with the December 17, 2021 finally set the start date for Chapter 2. Just in time for Christmas, Geralt von Rivia (Henry Cavill), his surprise child Ciri (Freya Allan) and sorceress Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) will return to the Netflix screens.

And a first long trailer for season 2 of “The Witcher” was shown at the WitcherCon. We analyze the new image material and tell you 11 details that the video reveals about the upcoming episodes. But before that you can see the trailer here:

1: Ciri’s nightmares and the fateful connection with Geralt

The trailer begins with the united Geralt and Ciri taking a rest in the forest. The Princess of Cintra asks: “Then I am your destiny?” Whereupon the witcher replies: “You are much more than that, Cirilla.”

Here, of course, the legendary Law of surprise alluded to what connects Geralt and Ciri fatefully.

Later in the trailer, Ciri is plagued by nightmares. The young woman will have to struggle with traumatic memories after the events of “The Witcher” Season 1 – and will also be haunted again and again by visions related to her prophetic gift. But Geralt watches over them.

2: The 1st look at Roach in season 2

While riding through the forest, “The Witcher” fans catch the first glimpse of Geralt’s loyal companion Roach in season 2 of the Netflix series. Presumably Ciri and Geralt are here on the way to the witcher fortress Kaer Morhen. The scenes should come from the 1st or 2nd episode of the new season.

3: A grain of truth is being adapted

At the WitcherCon the episode titles of the 2nd season of “The Witcher” were announced:

Therefore we know that in episode 1 of season 2 Andrzej Sapkowski’s short story “A Grain of Truth” is adapted from the short story collection “The Last Wish” (English title: “A Grain of Truth”).

Unlike in the novel, Ciri is apparently also part of the story.

And also the new witchers appear for the first time! Yasen Atour can be seen as Coen and Paul Bullion as Lambert.

Another shot from the “The Witcher” trailer shows Basil Eidenbenz as the donkey who eyed Ciri suspiciously and asks: “And who are you?”

5: Ciri starts her training and Geralt also struggles on the torture

Ciri appears on Kaer Morhen in Season 2 be trained as a sorceress. The trailer then also shows how she is handed a wooden practice sword.

In a new official picture for “The Witcher” Season 2, Ciri is training with Witcher Lambert in the courtyard of Kaer Morhen.

And Geralt himself is also struggling in the video on the torture of the witcher fortress – presumably observed by Vesemir, who can only be seen from behind.

6: The prostitute Danica returns and a fight takes place in Kaer Morhen

It was already known in advancethat Imogen Daines will return as prostrate Danica in season 2. The returnee can now be seen in the trailer and is talking to Ciri.

There is also a fight going on in Kaer Morhen. What exactly is happening here is still unclear, but a large battle scene on the Witcher Fortress has already been reported in advance: Sex orgy in the witcher’s fortress?

7: Triss Merigold arrives in Kaer Morhen – and ties up with Geralt again?

Sorceress Triss Merigold (Anna Shaffer), who was already part of season 1 of “The Witcher”, then seems to run into Ciri in the forest around Kaer Morhen. In Andrzej Sapkowski’s witcher novel “The Legacy of the Elves”, Geralt calls on Triss to help him better understand Ciri’s magical abilities.

The sorceress is appalled by the neglect of the young woman. She also appears to be holding Geralt’s hand. In the original novels, Triss and Geralt once loved each other …

8: The new armor from Nilfgaard in full splendor

The armor by Nilfgaard, newly designed for season 2 of “The Witcher”, can be seen briefly in the trailer. For the so-called “testicle armor” there was a lot of criticism in the “The Witcher” premiere. But now the look is based on the “The Witcher” games from CD Projekt Red.

9: Larkspur in a new look

The appearance of Bard Delphinium is also getting an update for season 2 of “The Witcher”. The hair has grown longer, and as actor Joey Batey explained during the WitcherCon, his character in season 2 is now “more rock ‘n’ roll”.

10: After the Battle of Sodden

The first edition of “The Witcher” ended with the legendary Battle of Sodden, in which the northern kingdoms of Nilfgaard were able to fight back for the time being. The trailer now shows piles of corpses and devastation.

Sorceress Tissaia de Vries (MyAnna Buring) desperately calls out for her favorite student Yennefer, whom she thinks is dead.

11: Yennefer is captured by Nilfgaard

But Yennefer, of whom there is suspiciously little to be seen in the trailer, survived. She is captured by Nilfgaard and her sorceress Fringilla (Mimi Ndiweni), and looks extremely weakened. Presumably, her powerful spells stole her energy.

Even if there is little of Yennefer in the trailer so far, she will remain one of the 3 main characters in season 2 of “The Witcher”. Perhaps Netflix simply wants to avoid spoilers here. Netflix also announced the “The Witcher” prequel film “Nightmare of the Wolf” at the WitcherCon the start date and presented a 1st trailer.
