In development since 2017, The Wolf Among Us 2 has encountered many issues over the years. And sadly, today it continues with a new announcement from Telltale Games.
The Wolf Among Us 2 will be released one day, but not in 2023…
The Wolf Among Us 2 is an encore and a delay
Six years after its announcement The wolf among us 2 is still not available. Development was clearly not a long smooth river and encountered various issues, such as an engine change – which started the design from scratch – or the closure of Telltale Games (the original team). A game that should finally come out this year, but it won’t.
In a tweet, the new Telltale Games announce that their title is still being postponed:
We’ve made the difficult decision to push back The Wolf Among Us 2. We know it’s frustrating to hear that. We started work on it in 2020 and we’re still committed to continuing the story of Bigdy and the rest of the Fabletown gang. However, we will need more time.
We’re committed to giving fans the sequel they deserve and doing what’s right for the game, while protecting the health of our team. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

The reasons for the postponement
If all goes well, The Wolf Among Us 2 will be released in 2024 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC (Epic Games Store). This renewed shift was caused by the additional workload caused by the move from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5.
In an interview with IGN, Jamie Ottilie, CEO of Telltale Games, also explains that he does not want to use Crunch and thus protects the developers.
I crunched, I don’t want to do that again and it’s not fair to ask the team that. You can’t run a business like that. So yes, it’s mostly about maintaining a healthy work culture. We don’t want to exhaust our good people.
