The entire Steam library is full of games and yet you still have nothing to play and with the free weekends on Steam the agony of choice becomes even greater.
As luck would have it, the coming weekend is just such a weekend. We’re introducing you to the games that you can try out right now at no extra cost. Some of them will even stay in your collection after the free period, waiting for you to keep playing.

Diablo 4: The war between heaven and hell escalates in the new story trailer
Just last year, Diablo 4, the fourth installment in the popular action role-playing game series, was released and has been diligently supplied with new content ever since.
The story takes place 50 years after the end of Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls and Sanctuary is now plagued by the powerful demon Lilith, who was once responsible for the creation of the world and you must stop her.
A new feature in Diablo 4 is the “Shared World,” which means that you share the game world with others. A maximum of 12 players are in one world, so it’s not an MMO, you’re just never completely alone.
After the story, you are left with the now significantly improved endgame, with stronger enemies and better loot, which turns Diablo 4 from a story game into a life-service title that regularly lures players back to their keyboards and gamepads with new seasons.

Diablo 4 – Season 5 Gameplay: The new hell hordes surprise with really good loot
The last season just started on August 6th and introduced, for example, “Hell Hordes”, an endgame roguelite mode in which you have to withstand waves of enemies. So if you still haven’t had enough after the main story, you can easily invest hundreds of hours in the game. You can read whether it’s worth it in our test:
More free games for the coming weekend
If you already own Diablo 4 or don’t want anything to do with it, you might find something for yourself among the remaining free games.
- Hellcard: In this cooperative roguelike deck builder, you fight your way through paper dungeons and assert yourself in tactical card battles. If you like Slay the Spire, you might like this too.
- Core Keeper: In this survival building game, you collect relics and raw materials in mines with up to seven other players, have fun with crafting and build your base.

You can keep these games
Sometimes you can even keep games that you tried out for free over the weekend.
- Drawful 2: This party game from the Jackbox universe is designed to appeal to your creativity. Whether you are artistically gifted or not is of secondary importance. The goal here is for three to eight players to create – or interpret – the most absurd and funny creations possible.
- Distant Space: This spaceship shooter takes you back to the arcade roots. In classic Space Invaders style, you shoot your way through 26 levels with a retro look.
- Weapon of Choice DX: In this side-scroller, you choose a character with an individual weapon and shoot your way through “genetically modified beings from beyond the stars” accompanied by metal music.
If that’s not enough for you, you can look above for other offers on Steam, Epic Games and Amazon Prime. For example, the complete Mafia trilogy is currently on sale.
What about you? Do you dedicate your weekend to one of the free games or do you politely decline? What have you bagged for free so far and are you glad you tried it? Tell us in the comments!
