That’s a cue from classic horror and sci-fi filmmaker John Carpenter (Halloween, The Thing, Escape from New York).
Carpenter, who enjoys “waking up late, watching a little news, playing video games, watching basketball, going to [back] to bed,” Variety magazine asked him a few days before his 75th birthday if he was directing a Dead Space movie. Carpenter had previously expressed interest in directing a movie based on the game, but only by the way .
But, according to Carpenter, he’s not attached because someone else might already have the job.
“I’m a video game fan, so I play all of them,” he said. “I was looking down at my new digital camera, RED, and I happened to mention to them that I’d love to do a Dead Space movie. Word spread and everyone was like, ‘Oh, when are you going to do it? ? “
“I’m not going to do it. I think they already have another director involved. And they haven’t asked me to do it. So I’m not going to do it unless someone asks me. But there’s a new version of the Dead Space video The game is coming out in January, and I’m there.”
Back in 2008, right after the original release, there was talk of a movie based on the game. DJ Caruso (I’m number four, Disturbia) was said to be involved with direct at the time, but things never got beyond the concept stage.
We had to be happy with the games until the movies were made and released, starting with the Dead Space remake. It launches on January 27 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
