Cyberpunk 2077 received the last major update on March 29, 2021. At that time the reactions were mixed and it quickly became clear that CD Projekt Red still had a lot of work to do. Patch 1.3 and some changes were officially announced on August 16, 2021. However, there are no patch notes yet.
An important clue: The changes presented here show only a part of the changes that should appear with Patch 1.3. However, it is not yet known which changes are still to come.
Patch 1.3: Minimap, Perk adjustments and adapted video sequences
The announcement of the new patch took place in a news message on the official website of cyberpunk. The message itself describes the problems in Night City from the point of view of the in-game news channel N54 News, which was supplemented by developer comments. Three videos each show a change in the new patch.
Change # 1: Zoom the mini-map while driving
You drive through Night City with 200 things, only to have to brake hard because you missed the exit. With patch 1.3, the mini-map will zoom out while driving and you will be more likely to see when to change lanes so as not to miss the exit. We compared the two scenes for you:
How much the mini-map zooms out at higher speed is currently not known – so far there was only a short video in which the speed was more like a leisurely Sunday drive.
Change # 2: video sequences get longer
You are standing in the clouds, staring at the screen and listening to the friendly voice of the reception staff – and suddenly the video sequence ends while the audio track is still playing. According to CD Projekt Red, the problem was with the video setup itself: the value for video time was shorter than the video sequence. In the future, you should better understand the decision you make in each sequence.
However, it is currently not known whether and which other video sequences will benefit from this.
Change # 3: Reset Perk Points
The attributes of V cannot simply be reset with Patch 1.3. For this you can reset perks in the future – but you also pay for it with a hefty sum of credits. According to an official report, however, it should be affordable for all players, “so that no one has to hesitate long who wants to invest in certain advantages.”
Livestream with more information and other news
The changes presented are only intended to show a part of the changes that will find their way into the game with Patch 1.3. The full list of all changes should appear soon. There will also be one on August 17th at 6 p.m. Live stream on Twitch where there will be »more impressions of what’s new in Night City«.
In case you’re wondering why Cyberpunk 2077 has been so quiet for a long time: Lead Quest Designer Pawel Sasko recently gave an answer. But the radio silence should be over after the official announcement of the new update. The only question that remains is when Patch 1.3 will be released and what else it has in store.
