With the Odyssey Neo G8, Samsung wants to launch the first 240 Hertz monitor with a 4K resolution. We are only a few weeks away from the release, which is why we ask ourselves the question: Who needs the high-end monitor anyway?
If you want to enjoy games at 240 Hertz and in 4K resolution, you also need the right hardware for it. It also depends on which games you want to play with it.

How and why everyone should limit FPS
240 Hertz with 4K resolution conjures up sharp images
For 4K including 240 Hertz, your hardware has to be pretty powerful, depending on the game. Especially if you want to play AAA games with it, you could reach your limits.
Forza Horizon 5 as an example: In our benchmarks for the racing game, Forza Horizon 5 manages a maximum of 92 frames per second in a 4K resolution and ultra preset with the RX 6800 XT as the graphics card. Even on very low settings, this time with the RTX 2070 Super, the game manages to run in Full HD at a maximum of 129 FPS. With a stronger graphics card you could still get a few more pictures, but it’s still questionable whether you’ll get to 240.
At the moment, you can max out the 240 FPS with 4K resolution in games that don’t require as much hardware power, such as Fortnite or Apex Legends.
In addition, the screen is future-proof.
Whether a 4K monitor makes sense for you depends mainly on your hardware. At the moment you often need high-end graphics cards and processors in order to be able to display complex games in high resolution and with so many FPS.

This is how games should be played
Not everyone benefits from 240 Hertz
Such high refresh rates are also not equally relevant in all games. In fast, competitive shooters you can certainly benefit from it, while for role-playing or strategy games, less Hertz is usually enough. But that also depends heavily on your personal perception.
