Fallout 3 – “That was a real eye-opener” – The ten best open-world games
Genre: Roleplay | Developer: Be thesda Game Studios | Release:
The first Fallout in 3D is a real milestone for us, which is why we voted it one of the ten best open world games and gave it one of the highest GameStar ratings in the test. Fallout 3 is obviously very popular with you, too, as it is the #1 Fallout title in our community poll. And rightly so!

A unique role-playing game
Fallout 3 is a unique experience in many ways. It starts with the intro that lets you experience your own birth and growing up in a nuclear bunker. And when you look out over the sprawling wasteland for the first time during the so-called stepping-out moment, the fun is just beginning.
Then numerous exciting quests, diverse NPCs and a large world await you that you can explore for a long time. It’s easy to forget that this world is wrapped in a 2008 tech scaffold as you help a mysterious tree creature, negotiate between vengeful ghouls and vain humans, risk your own skin for a survival manual, or the fate of an entire city decides.
Decisions are the keyword here. Because Fallout 3 lets you choose where you go next, how you solve quests, and which groups you sympathize with. Only the main quest can only be completed in one way. Another star is Die Welt, with its unique retrofuturistic style and mix of 1950s optimism, gloomy end times and macabre humour. There are also some really cool secrets hidden here:

Fallout’s biggest mystery is driving people insane
Who is this for? If you like role-playing games with freedom of choice and dark scenarios, you should definitely give Fallout 3 a chance. Even if you love to explore, there are exciting mysteries, quests and more in the world just waiting to be discovered by you. Only those who can’t get used to the technology and graphics from 2008 might want to sit out here.

Evoland 2 – test video for the grandiose genre mix
Genre: Roleplay | Developer: Shiro Games | Release: February 7, 2019
In addition, there are one or two role-playing games for free. The Evoland Legendary Edition includes parts one and two of this idiosyncratic genre mix. Here you experience video game history up close as the game slowly evolves from a 2D retro adventure to more modern games, switches to other genres and incorporates more features.

While the first Evoland was mainly characterized by this idea and only offered little game depth, Evoland 2 has been significantly improved. The much more successful mixture of RPG, Beat’em Up, round strategy and Jump&Run was even able to convince GameStar tester Sascha:

Evoland 2 in the test – the master test for game connoisseurs
Who is this for? Especially if you are already a veteran player and I find my way in many genres to some extent, you will have your joy here. Because some parts of Evoland are quite challenging. Those who know the classics will not only have it easier, but will also be made to smile by the many allusions.
How are you liking this week’s Epic Store gifts? As role-playing fans, do you take advantage of both offers? Or have you had Fallout in your library for years and played through it multiple times? Write your opinion in the comments!
