The releases don’t stop. February is packed with exciting new releases including big blockbusters like Dying Light 2, Lost Ark, Total War: Warhammer 2, Save The Bear Cubs… okay, just kidding. But the big releases continue this week: Elden Ring appears.
From Software’s new epic aims to prove that dark souls and open world go well together. And this is where the biggest bone of contention for the fans will probably roll around – although we were very impressed by the Elden Ring game world after the last allusion.
But Elden Ring is not everything. Many smaller games will be released this week, which could be of particular interest to role-playing fans. And of course that said Save The Bear Cubs, in which you, as a polar bear, have to save all the cubs. Polar bears just deserve more attention.
Highlight of the week: Elden Ring

All new gameplay and info shortly before release – Elden Ring in 10 minutes
Genre: Action RPG | developer: From Software | Release: February 24, 2022 | platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series
There has been a lot of philosophizing about Elden Ring. Announced as a major partnership between Dark Souls developers and Game of Thrones creator George RR Martin, after all these months the game stands for one thing above all: the biggest gameplay leap Dark Souls has ever dared. Although Elden Ring goes by a different name, it breathes the soul of Dark Souls 3 – and catapults its strengths into a massive open world.
A brave undertaking, because the winding, dense level design is one of the most important pillars that has made Dark Souls so immortal. However, our tester Elena is now optimistic: the open world can function. You will find out whether this forecast comes true by February 24, 2022 at the latest.

Tuesday 22 February 2022
- SCP: Pandemic: This hardcore co-op shooter is based on the open source horror game SCP, which has served as inspiration for horror projects for the past 10 years.
- Tiny Combat Arena: A highly stylized fighter plane simulator, graphically reminiscent of the 90s. And as you know, the 90s were always good.
- Monarch: Shin Megami Tensei doesn’t say much to many people in this country, but the role-playing game series is one of the best that the genre has ever produced. Monark comes from former developers of SMT and takes a very similar line.

- Final Fantasy 6: The 1994 RPG masterpiece is set to finally get the remaster it deserves on February 23rd.
- Blade&Sword: This Chinese action role-playing game is strikingly similar to Diablo 2. Wait and see if it’s good.

- Elden Ring: Dark Souls, Open World, George RR Martin – Elden Ring could be a masterpiece. Or stumble over your own ambitions.
- Martha Is Dead: This horror game could be really, really good. Set in 1940s Italy, it blurs the lines between dreams and the harsh reality of World War II.
- Grid Legends: Ironically, the story should be one of the highlights of this racing game. Colleague Sören Diedrich has already looked at the matter:
