We still don’t know what Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 will be called, but Square Enix has at least completed its story.
Final Fantasy 7 Reborn may not be releasing until this year, but work on its follow-up, the currently untitled third installment in Square Enix’s remake trilogy, sounds like it’s still well underway. According to 4gamer.net, “Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth” director Naoki Hamaguchi and producer Yoshinori Kitase recently appeared at the G-CON 2024 conference in South Korea and shared that the plot and concept of Part 3 have been locked and the development team has begun Research it (thanks GamesRadar). You won’t be surprised to hear that the exact details haven’t been shared, but Kitase has at least talked about his hopes for the beloved high-wind airship.

“Final Fantasy 7 Reborn provides a vast map, but if we think about it according to the original version, the third game will have Highwind (airship), so we need to let people experience the world from a higher perspective,” Kitase explain. “Instead of cheating the airship system, we’re going to challenge it head-on and allow players to fly freely around the map.” Considering how big the map of Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth is, this is certainly a pretty ambitious goal, especially Considering the maps in the sequel will almost certainly be bigger – at least Square Enix has done most of the work, it’s not bad. Good luck to them.
There’s a lot of mystery surrounding the third game, aside from Kitase’s airship hopes. Kitase has previously revealed that it may be different from the original PS1 game, claiming that it will be “exactly what fans have been waiting for,” so I’m sure many players will be looking forward to it. As of now, there’s not even a release window for part three, which means we’ll just have to wait a little longer.
