What is now the largest video platform on the Internet started around 17 years ago. The first ever video on YouTube was unsurprisingly uploaded by one of the company’s founders, Jawed Karim.
However, the video is not very eventful. It’s titled me at the zoo
and shows Jawed Karim in an 18-second clip, how he talks about the fact that elephants have really, really long trunks. This is really cool:

Despite the not very exciting content, the video has more than 200 million views to date. The video was already on the platform before YouTube was officially published. The first public beta started about a month after Karim uploaded his video.
Meanwhile, there is also rather curious content on the platform, such as this channel dedicated to hikes in the game Skyrim:
Relaxation with Skyrim:
Youtube channel dedicated solely to in-game hikes
A brilliant start for the platform
Besides Jawed Karim, YouTube had two other co-founders: Chad Hurley and Steve Chan. All three previously worked for the payment service PayPal, like In Game reported. Just one year after it was founded in 2006, the video platform was able to show impressive figures.
Video enthusiasts uploaded around 65,000 videos a day and around 100 million videos were viewed that year. In view of the numbers, Google came up with it relatively quickly. The company bought YouTube for $1.65 billion in a deal negotiated in just 72 hours.
Since Jawed Karim’s video, there have been much more professional and exciting videos on YouTube. We show you the 10 most successful videos of the platform ever:
