We are left without E3 2022, but not without news. In fact, we even got to see the highly anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong again, the long-rumored remakes of The Last of Us and Resident Evil 4 were confirmed, and we even got to see the first gameplay of games like Starfield and Redfall. We are not leaving empty handed. And yet, it is inevitable to feel that we missed a something special facing a year as powerful as 2022.
Yes, the calendar for 2023 already looks great and it seems that the long-delayed generation gap will take place. With the new Forza Motorsports, with Final Fantasy XVI with the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. In fact, the first two games were present at the Xbox & Bethesda Showcase and the State of Play in June 2022. But, of course, that does not mean that there are still games whose launch is scheduled for before the end of the year and from which has not been shown anything.
Proper names, everything is said, whose absence has been especially notorious in each of the events that have emerged around the Summer Game Fest 2022. In a way, the gear on which all the companies have turned voluntarily -or not- other quotes from Sony, Microsoft, Capcom, Devolver or the traditional PC Gaming Show. But that will not prevent us from remembering them.
In iGamesNews We have gathered in one place the 11 most notorious absences of what we have called the No-E3 2022 whose launch should be held before the end of the year. The great long-announced promises and a couple of annual appointments that we should already be talking about. However, we have the Gamescom or the Tokyo Game Show ahead to resume each of these pending conversations.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
Ubisoft asked for an event of its own, and although we are not sure when we will play Beyond Good and Evil 2 or Skull & Bones, if we had celebrated it, we are clear on which game the eyes would have focused on: the announced expansion of James Cameron’s Avatar universe through of video games. This year the second film is releasedso it’s time to resume the conversation.
God of War: Ragnarök
PlayStation fans are divided into two very defined groups: those who think they will play the sequel to God of War this year and those who are making the body to resume the story of Kratos and Atreus in 2023. In any case, God of War: Ragnarök It was the greatest absence of a State of Play that, seen what was seen, intentionally left some surprises in the inkwell and out of it. Will it be played in 2022? PlayStation Studios itself keeps hope alive.
Bayonetta 3
Before we referred to the fact that Ubisoft lacked a general event beyond the brief presentation of Assassin’s Creed; but if there is a conference that we really miss, it was the Nintendo one. The Big N was present when it came to presenting news about Pokémon Scarlet and Purple, but it is time to set a date for Bayonetta 3. A game that, by the way, was presented alongside the Switch itself in 2017.
Forspoken
Forspoken It had to be one of the first bombings of 2022 and, for one reason or another, it went to October. The truth is that it is better that it arrives later than that it comes out half-baked, but seeing how generous Square Enix has been when it comes to talking about the game in recent months, it has been surprising that the Luminous Productions game did not show up in any of the the events. Even at the PC Game Show!
PlayStation VR 2
Believe it or not, beyond showing off the design and specs, Sony has been reluctant to talk at length about its next-gen VR. At least, when it comes to his release date and release plans. And yet, in the State of Play they have already begun to talk about the games that we can play. Something is something, but we expected to have a lot more information.
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
Under normal circumstances we would have had two opportunities to put a date on it and learn about the news about the sequel to Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle: Nintendo’s Direct for E3 and the Ubisoft conference. The other reality is that it is time to settle for the French company to ensure that it will arrive throughout this fiscal year.
FIFA 23
Believe it or not, we are in the middle of June and we still haven’t talked about FIFA 23. We know that EA Sports’ future plans go through a rebranding in which FIFA will be out of the equation, but also that there is still at least one delivery under the acronym of a lifetime. That this year’s EA Play was canceled means that everything related to the new game is still up in the air, although we expect it to arrive between September and October.
Return to Monkey Island
In a certain way under the umbrella of Summer, Devolver Digital celebrated its traditional digital event continuing with the crazy and hooligan trend of previous years, and despite the fact that most of what was shown looked great, we were left with the desire to see the new and refreshed look Guybrush Threepwood and the wicked LeChuck. Of course, Ron Gilbert ensures that the third legitimate installment of Monkey Island is still going smooth sailing.
Hogwarts Legacy
2022 is a superb year for the Warner video game division, and despite the fact that we have no idea what the Mortal Kombat studio has in its hands and the future of the Lord of the Rings saga will be in the hands of third parties, the brooch of the year looks spectacular: in addition to a Gotham Knights that did show up these days, the great brooch of the year will be Hogwarts Legacy.
The ARPG is the most ambitious and spectacular game that has ever been made inspired by the books and movies, and every time it shows up it makes us take our hats off. Unfortunately, we are about to reach the halfway point of June and we have not had a new appetizer. We will have to wait a little longer to take a new look at this promising magical open world.
Splatoon 3
The Splatoon saga is enjoyed year-round, but its colorful craziness lends itself wonderfully to summertime enjoyment. There are still about three months to go before we can soak ourselves in ink and smear entire scenarios, but definitely the absence of a Nintendo digital event has left us wanting news and that very predictable announcement that we all count on and from which, of So far nothing has been said: when will there be an online testing phase?
Bola Extra: Assassin’s Creed Infinity
Ubisoft not only didn’t offer its traditional event, but instead invited us to an Assassin’s Creed Celebration that deserved to be better. Better. Not that it was empty of content, for the record, but beyond the arrival of Assassin’s Creed Origins to the next generation systems and the new batch of content for Valhalla, the issue that had to be addressed was Assassin’s Creed Infinitythe celebration of the 15 years of the saga and the officially confirmed new delivery that will bet on the format of platform as a service. We hope that in September there will be more luck when it comes to knowing news.
