The Made by GoogleAs expected, the event brought forth four new smartphones from the Pixel series.

In addition to the regular Pixel 9 and the associated Pro version, the latter phone is getting a new XL variant; Google is also launching the successor to the Pixel Fold as the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. We’ll show you all the details about the Google smartphones in the following overview.

Pixel 9: Everything as announced

More and more leaks have surfaced about the standard model of the Pixel 9 in recent weeks – in some cases Google itself has also revealed information. Accordingly, the data sheet is unlikely to surprise attentive GameStar readers much.

The Pixel 9 has a 6.3-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2,424 x 1,080 pixels. Google specifies values between 60 and 120 Hertz as the variable refresh rate; the peak brightness should be up to 2,700 cd/m².

The responsible processor is the Tensor G4but no hard facts are given. Instead, Google only promises that the Pixel 9 more power than ever before hat.

The chip is flanked by 12 GB of RAMFor the internal memory you can choose between 128 and 256 GB capacity.

The camera system consists of two lenses, just like its predecessor. The wide-angle camera has not changed: there is still a 50-MP-Sensor (f/1.68) with optical image stabilization.

The Pixel 9’s ultra-wide-angle camera is getting an upgrade. From the previous twelve MP, it now has 48 Megapixel (f/1.7) to four times the resolution. The lens already made the same step last year within the Pro series. The front camera remains with 10,5 Megapixel identical.

Google states the typical battery capacity of the Pixel 9 as 4,700 mAhAccording to the manufacturer, this is enough for more than 24 hours of battery life with typical use; in energy saving mode, it can last more than 100 hours. The separately available 45-watt charger should charge around 55 percent of the battery within half an hour.

On the connection side, Google is updating the relevant standards to Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3.

Pixel 9 Pro (XL): One smartphone, two formats

The Pixel 9 Pro aims to differentiate itself from the standard model in some aspects, but also remains (almost) unchanged in many ways. For example, the screen diagonal is literally just one millimeter longer than the regular Pixel 9 – not a difference that you will notice in practice.

The screen uses LTPO-OLED and increases the resolution to 2,856 x 1,280 pixels; the refresh rate can be adjusted down to one Hertz. The peak brightness increases to 3,000 cd/m².

The core data is also slightly adjusted: The Pro model has 16 GB of RAM. In addition, prospective buyers have further options for memory size with 512 GB and 1 TB.

According to Google, the big selling point is the Pixel 9 Pro’s camerawhich is supposed to be better than ever before. In addition to the two lenses known from the Pixel 9, there is a third sensor as a telephoto lens with 48 megapixels (f/2.8).

The front camera has received a similar upgrade, now delivering razor-sharp selfies with 42 MP resolution. All other important specs are identical to the regular model.

With the Pixel 9 Pro XL, Google is also introducing a new variant. As the name suggests, the smartphone is the Pro model in a larger version.

Accordingly, the details related to size are the only differences: The Pixel 9 Pro XL has a 6.73-inch display with a resolution of 2,992 x 1,344 pixels. The battery capacity increases to 5,060 mAh.

At 221 grams, it is also slightly heavier than the Pixel 9 Pro, which weighs 199 grams – one gram more than the regular Pixel 9.

Pixel 9 Pro Fold: No experiments

The first Pixel Fold was an experiment in terms of the short formatwhich Google will probably no longer continue. With the Pixel 9 Pro Fold presented today, the manufacturer is returning to industry-standard dimensions of 155.2 x 150.2 x 5.1 mm.

This results in the following sizes: The external display is identical to the regular Pixel 9. When unfolded, an 8-inch OLED display can be seen, which has a resolution of 2,152 x 2,076 pixels.

In addition to the Tensor G4, there is 16 GB of RAM, true to the Pro banner, and the memory variations are only specified as 256 and 512 GB.

The camera system is almost unchanged from its predecessor: We already know the 48-megapixel wide-angle, 10.5-megapixel ultra-wide-angle and 10.8-megapixel telephoto lens from the Pixel Fold. Only the front and interior cameras have been given a slight upgrade at ten megapixels.
