Gaming News These four franchises are a hit, but that’s largely because of their episodes released on Nintendo Switch
In its latest financial report, Nintendo identified the franchises with the largest sales, a good indicator of the manufacturer’s future. Among them we find good support that offers the company a good guarantee for the future.
Nintendo’s stuffed animals
Who else other than Mario could be better than Kirby as the Big N’s mascot? This little pink suction monster, created by Masahiro Sakurai, is the pride of the company. The latest game in the series, Kirby and the Forgotten World, received a good rating of 17/20 from us and this isn’t the creature’s only appearance on Switch. Aside from the retro works ported to the hybrid console via Nintendo Online, Kirby is featured in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and the title of the same name: Kirby: Star Allies, both released in 2018. The sales of Kirby games represent 15.08 million units soldan exponential number if we take into account the games released on Wii U and 3DS such as Kirby: Battle Royale or Kirby’s Blowout Blast (see infographic below).
Another iconic character from the red brand: Pikmin. Before entering the hybrid machine, these little creatures of nature benefited from an episode on the 3DS called Hey! PIKMIN. The game is a platform game as we know it well. Pikmin 4 (on Switch, 2023) marks the return of three-dimensional exploration. Players will also have the opportunity to discover two new Pikmins: Ice and Glow, as well as new gadgets such as a scout drone. Your goal is to advance in the adventure by learning your opponents’ attacks and solving small puzzles. Pikmin 4 is a role-playing game that offers camera management similar to Baldur’s Gate 3: the player is supposed to play with the joystick to get closer to the character in an isometric perspective. A great success if one believes the sales (7.86 million units) and the Game Award award in 2023 (“Best Simulation/Strategy Game”).

The Metroid software released on Switch is in no way inferior to its predecessors produced for Wii U and 3DS. With a remaster (Metroid Prime Remastered) and Metroid Dread, Almost 5 million copies were sold. And we’re off to a good start, as a certain Metroid Prime 4: Beyond should be coming soon, having been announced at E3 in 2017. The first trailer was released last June and the latter was gifted by hyper fans!
The Xenoblade Chronicles saga recorded the greatest sales growth. The franchise has increased its sales sevenfold compared to games on Wii U and 3DS exceed the 7 million copies sold mark for his works on Switch. A great development that cannot be stopped considering that Nintendo announced it just over a week ago Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition remaster is scheduled for March 20, 2025. Rumors are circulating that the game will be released at the launch of the Japanese company’s next console.
