Three years after the release of the first teaser, things appear to be seriously accelerating within BioWare for the highly anticipated Mass Effect 4.
At least that’s what John Epler, BioWare veteran and creative director of Dragon Age The Veilguard, expressed in an interview with Rolling Stone. While it has only just been released, the American studio is now looking to the stars and is starting to put all hands on deck for the long-awaited return of its legendary space opera in the person of Mass Effect 4.
Transluminal speed used in the development of Mass Effect 4
BioWare appears to be getting back on track after the bitter critical and commercial failures of Anthem and Mass Effect Andromeda. Whether we like it or not, Dragon Age The Veilguard finally seems to be the title that restores the image of the American studio. In any case, this was released in a finished version, a priori very well optimized for PC and consoles, and also without a season pass, early access, DRM or connection requirement. So many measures that are quite rare in modern AAA games, and given that the game is published by Electronic Arts, quite a pleasant surprise. If you believe John Epler, developing a DLC for this game would be out of the question. This means that BioWare can finally step up a gear when it comes to Mass Effect 4.
A prospect that should delight fans of the iconic space opera and especially the legendary original trilogy. On paper, Mass Effect 4 would actually bring all the ingredients together to offer a new work worthy of Shepard’s cult epic. Michael Gamble, the game’s executive producer, expressed reassurance on the subject following the mixed reactions surrounding Dragon Age The Veilguard. In his opinion, the next Mass Effect should have a photorealistic artistic direction and maintain the mature tone of the original work. In his interview with Rolling Stone, John Epler also confirmed that the continuation of our adventures in space should leave aside the open-world approach of Andromeda and focus more on the narrative, but should therefore necessarily be more “directored”.
Will there be any news soon about the upcoming N7 Day?
However, it remains to be seen whether these promises will actually be kept. Let’s hope BioWare can share some exciting news about Mass Effect 4 soon. As a reminder, N7 Day, the annual gathering for fans of the famous SF franchise, will take place very soon: November 7th. A potentially great opportunity to learn more about what awaits us among the stars in a more or less distant future.
