if you think Elden’s Ring Malenia is easy, you’d be lying, but if you want a harder version for some reason, this is certainly a mod for now.
I’ve only defeated Malenia once since Elden Ring came out. That’s because I’ve only played this game once (some of us have other games to play) and I’m happy with it. I also agree that it’s not necessary to fight Malenia again, but some of you are masochists who love pain, and for those of you who fit that bill, I’d like to introduce you to the Pure Malenia mod. As Elden Ring and general Soulslike YouTuber Ongbal demonstrated recently, Unalloyed Malenia is a mod by MiquallaTheUnalloyed with one purpose in mind: to make Malenia “more difficult.”
As described on Nexus Mods, the idea was “so that it could be an interesting challenge even for those who know vanilla malenia in detail” or even “present a more canonical male Nia image”, that is, those who have never known vanilla malenia. Beaten, even by some defilers. This mod makes many changes and additions to an already extremely difficult boss fight; for one, her moves in the first phase are different, now uses a second Waterfowl Dance that isn’t in the final game, and Her second phase now leaves her at full health instead of about three quarters.

The mod also borrows some animations from other classic FromSoftware games, such as Sekiro and Bloodborne, most notably Lady Maria. On top of that, she’s also completely immune to Crimson Rot and poison, her defense against all other types of damage has been increased, and the Crimson Rot she uses in the second phase of the fight is now basically unavoidable. There are a few other tweaks, and she even adds some cut dialogue if you manage to defeat her, so if you haven’t actually seen that yet, it might be worth checking out (or you can watch Ongbal’s video above).
It also seems like a good way to while away the time while we wait for Shadow of the Tree, which is still in production, although it doesn’t have a release date yet.
