After spending the last week slaughtering enemies in extremely brutal and violent ways in Gungrave GORE, this time I wanted to go to the other extreme and look for some titles that They are considered cozy gameswhich are those designed to make you enjoy an entertaining and relaxing experience without too many pretensions, so you can sit on the couch and just have a good time with this type of games.
Following the sad news that Humble Games has laid off all of its employees, I saw that one of the titles it published a few years ago was Carda nice indie developed solely by the four people who make up the Sunhead Games studio, based in Taiwan. I found it very interesting and eye-catching, so I took advantage of the subscription to PlayStation Plus Extra to download for free at PlayStation Store.
This endearing adventure introduces us to a little girl who gives the game its name and her grandmother, who are traveling around the world with a flying machine. Unfortunately, a terrible storm ends up hitting their transport, causing our young protagonist to be thrown outside and end up ending up on a mysterious island
For this Carto must use its special cartography powerswhich makes it even clearer why it is called that. It only takes a couple of minutes to figure out exactly how to play and it is thanks to a map divided into a series of cards that you can freely place and even rotate. This allows you to alter the layout of the stage as you wish and move around it in a variety of ways.
For example, there is a chance that a forest will block your path, but if you manage to place the card in a certain way, it is possible to create a new path. In this sense, sometimes you have to distribute the boxes in a certain way to generate a new one. However, it is not a matter of trial and error, because the various characters that appear in this fantasy world, as well as the visual clues that can be observed, are very useful to understand how to place the cards.
About the characters that Carto meets, the truth is that they seemed to me very adorable and picturesquewith their different cultures and ways of seeing life. I have seen individuals who perform rituals with the help of animals, a family that sends their daughter on a trip when she comes of age, or a bookseller who hides a series of the most mysterious books.
The adventure is divided into a series of chapters that are not excessively longIt all depends on each person’s ability to solve the puzzles that are presented, but you must not lose sight of what is around you, because the puzzles are very clever and surprising in how they vary even though the central axis of them continues to be moving the cards around the map.
Some of the ones that have caught my attention the most are those that require making specific shapes with the squares, such as a circle or a secret path, as well as others that have made me feel like being trapped in the Lost Woods of The Legend of Zelda as I have to follow the sounds and visual cues to find the right path to follow. Plus, the reward for completing the objective is very satisfying with Very cheerful sounds and new map pieces
And of course I can’t help but highlight its brilliant soundtrack and its magical artistic section as it is all hand drawn in very varied settings. Despite giving off a somewhat childish touch, it is inevitable that it catches your eye and keeps you glued to the controls, because its proposal conquers you by how different it is from what we are used to seeing and that at times it has made me remember the board game Carcassonne.
Card It’s the typical game that you can give a try at any time, especially if you feel like enjoying something relaxing and spending time with someone who is not very skilled with the controls, because it is ideal for anyone to enjoy an afternoon helping little Carto in This unforgettable trip which leaves you with a very satisfying taste in your mouth.
