The British studio Rebellion, known for its series Sniper Elitereturns with a fascinating new project: Nuclear fall. This post-apocalyptic game, described as a Stand out with a British twist promises a unique atmosphere by immersing players in a 1960s Britain hit by a mysterious nuclear accident. Atomic Fall is scheduled for 2024 and is said to be a mix of science fiction, military intrigue and folklore with landscapes typical of England.
A universe for Atomfall inspired by real events
Atomic Fall is set in 1962 in a fictional quarantine zone in the north of England. The story is inspired by the Windscale nuclear accident in Cumbria in 1957 and imagines a world where that incident had far more worrying consequences. Players will discover an environment that combines nuclear paranoia and social tensions, with hidden secrets waiting to be revealed. In the end a bit like Fallout, but less post-apocalyptic.
At the heart of this quarantine zone, multiple factions compete for power and resources. A military force called Protocol watches over the region, but its intentions remain unclear. On the other hand, the British Atomic Research Division (BARD) conducts experiments in secret bunkers, further revealing the secrets of this isolated region. We also come across primitive cults with their imposing depictions of “Wicker Men,” adding a touch of disturbing folklore. The player must navigate this environment where each faction can hide hidden agendas.
In terms of gameplay, Atomfall places an emphasis on survival and exploration. Players explore military facilities, craft tools and ammunition, and defend themselves against a variety of enemies. Between zombie-like creatures and giant mechs patrolling the land, the dangers are numerous. Atomfall is scheduled for 2024 and will be released on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC (Steam, Epic and Windows). The game will also be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one, making this adventure accessible to a wide audience.
