Game News This cult horror video game returns “sublimated and reworked” on PS5 and PC, we finally have the date! He promises to make us tremble again, but not only that …
If the remaster of this cult horror game didn’t convince you, you’re likely to change your mind. The developers claim that the base title has been sublimated and even reworked.
Announced a few months ago, the remaster “slash” remake of Until Dawn is now revealed in a little more detail in an article published on the PlayStation Blog. The developers of Ballistic Moon (whose first project is) explain that they have has recreated the famous narrative horror game from A to Z on the Unreal Engine 5which wasn’t necessarily obvious until now… “We’ve updated character models, environments, interactive objects, visual effects and animations,” Neil McEwan, Creative Director at Ballistic Moon, summarizes in Sony’s columns. “Everything has been designed to optimize the Until Dawn experience on both PS5 and PC.”
Changes that are visible
To put it in words, the studio simultaneously released a video comparing its version of Until Dawn with the original title, originally released exclusively for PS4 in 2015. The least we can say is that the difference is visible. Instead of revisiting the adventures of our eight young people at Blackwood Mountain, Ballistic Moon preferred to review the “cinematography” (essentially the framing and lighting) of the gamefor a result that is described as more intimate and readable. Ultimately, only the content of the prologue underwent major adjustments. “We gave the Washingtons a little more screen time to explore their family ties and get to know them better,” says Neil McEwan. You can watch the comparison video mentioned above below.
Until dawn, but better?
Always with the goal of making Until Dawn more impactful and modern, Ballistic Moon has also added (in addition to the original stills): a 3rd person camera at certain passages. “The flexibility of the camera allows us to focus on key moments and tell the story from a perspective closer to the characters,” explains Neil McEwan… The studio also uses these new perspectives to hide secrets. “We changed the location of all the totems (collectibles that can provide tips for survival, editor’s note).” Ballistic Moon also evokes new “interactions” and “small zones”. So connoisseurs of the 2015 game will get their money’s worth. This new version of Until Dawn will be released on October 4, 2024 on PS5 | PC.
