Earlier this week, Twitter users Kilian garbage upload your opinion Akali It looks just like in Project L. It was so good, so good in fact, that when I casually browsed Twitter on a Thursday morning, at first glance, I thought it was part of a legitimate announcement.
This model is based on Akali’s classic skin and is fully 3D with shaders (created by the user alsace villas) which is as close to an actual game model as you can reasonably expect. It’s incredible how much it looks like a real Project L character, so much so that Project L lead Tom Cannon himself praised the work.
It’s been a while since we heard anything from the Project L team, who left us a long blog post on Illaoi that gave us an idea of the champion’s design philosophy. But, as KillianJunk shows, the excitement surrounding the unveiling of the new champion is still burning in the hearts of fans around the world.
We’re still supposed to release more big info for the game sometime this year, but while we wait, it’s great to see some talented folks keeping this game in the hands of fighting game fans and Riot for the foreseeable future in the minds of diehards. As for Killian, we hope they create more character concepts for Project L in the future, even though the game may still be billions of years away.
For more Project L content, we actually have some features in the game that are worth a read. The first was a conversation with league fans at this year’s LEC Finals in Malmo on whether they care about the game, while the other was a conversation with Alberto Guererro about Riot’s hopes for esports.
